I love my husband more than anything in this world. He’s my best friend, confident, sounding board, and playmate. We rarely argue and never really fight, but lately we’ve been fighting. What is the turn of events that has caused this unusual phenomenon? We’re remodeling. The project is expected to take almost a year. Wow, this is going to be fun.
Lewis is a fireman and is often home while I ride a desk. If only it were the other way around we would do less fighting; somehow what we decide together doesn’t get relayed to the construction crew the way I’ve pictured it.
He said to me recently, very seriously, “You know, women are from Venus and men are from Mars.” No kidding!
Delve with us into the different ways that men and women view life and what’s important. We have laughed and we have cried over this project during the last few months. I hope you do the same following our insanity.

Update December 2013
We still have work to do on the house but it has slowed to just an occasional project, for now. We will tackle outside and the master bedroom/bath soon and are enjoying getting along again.
Update December 2015
Well, so much for soon and so much for getting along. We WERE getting along until we started planning Phase 3. We start this project in January and our main goal is to still be married when we’re finished. Wish us luck, I think we’ll need it this time.
Great idea for a blog! I know that this is true after years of being married to the same man! Thanks for the like. Please visit again soon and often! Namaste. . . .
Thanks! Actually, the blog has been very good therapy. It has given both of us a format to “vent”.
How funny!! I have a husband that I also never fight or argue with and we are about to have some work done on our house….should be interesting!
Well, good luck is all I can say. We’ve both agreed that we can see how remodels really do cause divorce as there is so much conflict. We just tried to remember that we do love each other and tried not to talk about the remodel over dinner. We didn’t have a kitchen for over a year and lived upstairs in the mess so hopefully yours won’t be too bad.
Oh gosh, no, nothing as big as that!! I’ll still be without a kitchen for a while which fills me with dread! It sounds like having children: what happens when you’re exhausted at 3am stays there and doesn’t go any further..!
Yes, the mess is EVERYWHERE, every single day. There are either men in your house unexpectedly or not there when you’d hoped they’d be. No cooking, no baking, no kitchen except for the make shift “kitchen” in the bathroom. Are you planning to eat out every day or set up a temporary kitchen?
