The recent lull between projects has been welcome and has given us the opportunity to do what we love; entertain. This house was designed for entertaining; individual sitting and eating places encompassed in open spaces allow for easy conversational flows and wherever you are everything and everyone is visible. A separate dining room could not be incorporated into the floor plan but our expandable glass dining table on wheels allows us to serve company in a formal sit down format when it rolls into place.
Last weekend twelve guests gathered at a makeshift dining area in the middle of the Great Room feasting on grilled mustard crusted salmon, Brussels sprouts, Caesar salad, Giada De Laurentiis’ Pasta Ponza (with my own twist of substituting sundried tomatoes for some of the cherries) and The Foodinista’s Killer Banana Pudding with Nilla Wafers that one diner loved so much she literally licked the glass clean.
Last night I hosted a Ladies Only Mixology Event gathering twenty of my friends for lessons by a professional bartender on crafting such fabulous cocktails as Marie Claire Champagne Cocktail (my favorite although I don’t like gin), Bloody Martini, classics like Cosmopolitan and with a twist Grapefruit Cosmopolitan, Lemon Drop, Chocolate Martini and as Thanksgiving is quickly approaching Pumpkin Pie Martini which was a huge hit. When Lewis arrived home he wondered if food had actually passed anyone’s lips as the floor was covered with food and sticky beverage remnants but that is a sign of a great party!
Well I’m just glad they didn’t burn the house down. Just goes to show that woman are just as messy as men but the house is performing as expected for entertaining. Now we just need some more comfortable seating to be finished.
